How Do I Get to the Venue If I Am Arriving by Air/Train/Car/Walking/Cycling?

Air Travel to London

If you are arriving by air, London has four main airports, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City. For Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted the most efficient way of travelling to your hotel or to the Southbank Centre is by the airport express train services, the Heathrow Express, the Gatwick Express and the Stansted Express to central London stations. These are Paddington for the Heathrow Express, Victoria for the Gatwick Express and Liverpool Street for the Stansted Express. Trains run every 15 minutes in peak hours. From the central London Stations taxis are available to take you to your hotel or the Royal Festival Hall.


London’s main rail stations are Charing Cross, Euston, Kings Cross, St Pancras International, Liverpool Street, London Bridge, Marylebone, Moorgate, Paddington, Victoria and Waterloo.
The nearest stations to Southbank Centre are Waterloo, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Blackfriars. Find train routes here.

Waterloo (Northern, Bakerloo, and Jubilee and Waterloo & City lines) is 200 metres from Southbank Centre.

Embankment (District & Circle lines) is 600 meters from Southbank Centre.

Oyster / Travel cards

A travel card is a ticket that give you the freedom to travel as much as you like on bus, tube, tram, DLR, London over ground. TFL rail and national rail services in London.

For the tube, DLR, London over ground and TFL rail you can buy travel cards for travel across Zones 1 – 6. The average price for a day anytime travel card is £13.70.


Route RV1 stops on Belvedere Road which is less than a minute’s walk away.

Routes 1, 4, 26, 59, 68, 139, 168, 171, 172, 176, 188, 243, 521, N1, N68, N171 and N343 stop on Waterloo Bridge which is a two minute walk away.

River Bus

From east London, take the River Bus RB1 route and alight at London Eye Pier. There are departures every 20 minutes on weekdays. River Buses are operated by Thames Clippers and accept Oyster cards.
